Apollonia Tower

The Tower of Apollonia is located on the south side of the old national road Thessaloniki-Kavala, between the mouth of Strymonas River and the Bay of Eleftheron. His name probably took it from the wrong estimate of the time for the exact location of the ancient city of Apollonia. The building dates back to around the 14th century and had a military purpose. It was built to control movements throughout the sea area, from Kavala (then Christoupoli) to Mount Athos.

If you follow the dirt road that is near the tower, you will reach a beach that offers endless blue, tranquility and serenity. Map
